Mark Tuckey started making furniture in 1990 in a small garage in Armadale. In 1999 he amalgamated his four retail sites into one concept showroom and workshop in Fitzroy, known then as Ancient Modes. The business was rebranded in 2006.

Louella Tuckey is an experienced and well known interior designer and homewear stylist who joined Mark Tuckey in 2005. She has updated and extended the existing furniture range, and designs new furniture both for the shop floor and Mark Tuckey clients. Louella first moved to Australia from London in 1997 to oversee the design and display of The Conran Shop
